Publisher: That comparison to a mother highlights tenderness. They were not simply conveying information; those people mattered to them. In your case, that would include listening to you and not rushing you when you need time to think.<\/p>

Publisher: Those final words remind me that it isn\u2019t enough to have an explanation prepared. It also matters that the person feels respected while listening to it and can express disagreement.<\/p>

Person:<\/strong> That\u2019s fine. Although the text you read doesn\u2019t prove that Jesus isn\u2019t God.<\/p>

Publisher:<\/strong> You\u2019re right; I didn\u2019t read it to prove that. I chose it because it explains how I should respond when we disagree. The question of who Jesus is deserves to be handled separately, rather than mixing the issues together.<\/p>

Person:<\/strong> So would respecting someone mean dropping the subject and that\u2019s it? My friend and I do that, but we don\u2019t solve anything either.<\/p>

Publisher:<\/strong> Not necessarily. If both want to, they can explain their reasons. But listening does not obligate us to accept. For example, you let me read this passage and then pointed out something you disagreed with. I can listen without viewing it as an attack.<\/p>

Person:<\/strong> I understand. I dislike being interrupted so someone can answer before I finish. Then I no longer feel like continuing the conversation.<\/p>

Publisher:<\/strong> Yes, if I\u2019m preparing my answer while you\u2019re speaking, I may miss what you really mean. I would rather ask you to clarify something than answer hastily and end up talking about different things.<\/p>

Person:<\/strong> Well, I really have to go now. Another day we could talk about why you say that Jesus is the Son of God. But without arguing.<\/p>

Person:<\/strong> But it can also happen that someone listens and then says something hurtful. If my friend tells me that I believe something because I\u2019ve never stopped to think about it, it bothers me, even if he says it without raising his voice.<\/p>

Publisher:<\/strong> Of course, because in that case he would be judging why you believe something without knowing. Speaking calmly is not enough if the words cause pain. Instead of assuming that you have not thought it through, he could ask what has helped you reach that conclusion. Then you would have the opportunity to explain yourself in your own words.<\/p>

Person:<\/strong> That would be different. My family taught me these things with a lot of love. So when someone treats them as if they were foolish, I feel that he is also showing contempt for my family.<\/p>

Publisher:<\/strong> Now I understand better why the way the subject is presented matters so much to you. We can examine a belief without belittling those who taught it to us. It is possible to repeat a request without stopping to think about all that it means. That could happen with the prayer Jesus taught. We know the request for God\u2019s Kingdom to come. But when we make that request, what are we asking for? Understanding the answer can give more meaning to our prayers and strengthen our trust in Jehovah.<\/p>

God\u2019s Kingdom is not simply a wish for things to improve. It is a real government that is in heaven. We do not need to imagine what it is like or assign it characteristics based on our preferences. The Bible enables us to know who establishes it, who receives authority, and how far its rule extends.<\/p>

Let us begin with Jesus\u2019 words. When teaching his disciples to pray, he connected the Kingdom with the doing of his Father\u2019s will. Let us pay attention to where the Father is and where his will must be done. Let us read Matthew 6:9, 10.<\/p>

Matthew 6:9-10<\/strong> \u2014 \u201cYou must pray, then, this way: \u201c\u2018Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth.<\/em>

Jesus directs the prayer to his heavenly Father. And after asking for his Kingdom to come, he asks that God\u2019s will also be done on earth. Therefore, the fact that this government is in heaven does not mean that it is disconnected from life on earth. Its activity is directly related to what happens here.<\/p>

Consider a simple comparison. A government does not have to be located in every town in order to exercise authority over it. Similarly, it would not be reasonable to conclude that the Kingdom cannot rule the earth because it is in heaven. What matters is who gives it authority and how far that authority extends.<\/p>

Is it really a government, or could it be merely a good influence in the heart? To answer, let us consider how Daniel describes it. The passage distinguishes it from other kingdoms and explains what it will do to them. Let us listen to Daniel 2:44.<\/p>

Daniel 2:44<\/strong> \u2014 \u201cIn the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever,<\/em>

The one who establishes this Kingdom is the God of heaven. The text does not simply speak of improving the conduct of some people. It describes a Kingdom that brings an end to other kingdoms and remains. This comparison helps us reach a clear conclusion: we are talking about a government with real authority, not merely a feeling.<\/p>

Moreover, its existence does not depend on others allowing it to continue. Jehovah guarantees that it will not be destroyed or passed on to another people. We do not need to add dates or details that this verse does not provide. What it does say already gives us a solid basis for trust: the government that God establishes will never end.<\/p>

Now, a government exercises authority over people. How extensive will God\u2019s Kingdom be? Daniel received a vision that answers that question. As we read it, let us note both the authority given to the figure described and the variety of people who serve him. Let us read Daniel 7:13, 14.<\/p>

Daniel 7:13-14<\/strong> \u2014 \u201cI kept watching in the visions of the night, and look! with the clouds of the heavens, someone like a son of man was coming; and he gained access to the Ancient of Days, and they brought him up close before that One. And to him there were given rulership, honor, and a kingdom, that the peoples, nations, and language groups should all serve him. His rulership is an everlasting rulership that will not pass away, and his kingdom will not be destroyed.<\/em>

The vision presents someone who receives rulership and a kingdom before the Ancient of Days. This is not authority limited to one people or language. People of all nations serve him. And Daniel again highlights the duration of that rulership: it will not end. Its scope and permanence are extraordinary.<\/p>

To complete the picture, the book of Revelation expressly connects the Kingdom with God and with his Christ. Thus, we do not base our conclusion on an isolated comparison; we allow the Bible passages themselves to complement one another. Let us note who appears connected with this government as we read Revelation 11:15.<\/p>

Revelation 11:15<\/strong> \u2014 The seventh angel blew his trumpet. And there were loud voices in heaven, saying: \u201cThe kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will rule as king forever and ever.\u201d<\/em>

The heavenly announcement confirms that the Kingdom belongs to God and to his Christ. We can now bring together what we have learned: Jehovah establishes it, Christ shares in its government, people of every nation are under its authority, and its rule remains. These are features of a real government. Our confidence rests on what the Bible says.<\/p>

The next time we ask for the Kingdom to come, let us pause for a moment to consider the meaning of that request. We will not be expressing merely a desire to live better. We will be asking for Jehovah\u2019s heavenly government to act and for his will to be done on earth. Knowing what that Kingdom is helps us to pray with understanding and genuine confidence.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
