The Governing Body Promotes Unity (Part 2)<\/h2>

Of all that the Governing Body has done to preserve unity, what do you appreciate the most?<\/h3>

Comment 1:<\/strong> I deeply appreciate the effort made to train the brothers. The video mentions that training programs and theocratic schools were established, and that the role of the Governing Body and its committees was clarified. That good organization helps us work together in unity. It makes me appreciate even more the training received by those who care for us.<\/p>

Comment 2:<\/strong> Something I especially value is the effort made to ensure that the brothers did not lack spiritual food, no matter what was happening in the world. During the 1970s and 1980s, there were more than twenty construction or expansion projects taking place at the same time, and the Governing Body kept track of each one. Behind those projects was concern for people: that they receive the Bible publications they needed. Thinking about all that work moves me not to take spiritual food for granted but to make good use of it.<\/p>

Comment 3:<\/strong> I am touched that they made an effort to visit personally the brothers who were living under restrictions. In 1977, Brothers Jaracz, Franz, and Sydlik went to Poland and spoke with circuit overseers, pioneers, and brothers who had been in the truth for many years. They did not wait for all the difficulties to disappear before drawing close to them. Those brothers had endured a great deal of pressure, and personal contact was very valuable. I appreciate that concern for those who were going through difficult circumstances; it reminds me how much a visit and a kind conversation can encourage someone.<\/p>

Comment 4:<\/strong> Brother Barry\u2019s meeting with Brother Kose especially caught my attention. They met secretly in Leningrad, and Brother Kose said that the conversation had encouraged him very much. What is touching is that he did not know he was speaking with a member of the Governing Body until afterward. What reached him was the encouragement he received during the conversation, even without knowing Brother Barry\u2019s responsibility. I appreciate that close, personal way of caring for the brothers. It reminds me that listening and speaking kindly can do a great deal of good, regardless of our responsibility.<\/p>

Comment 5:<\/strong> I greatly value the fact that they recognized the efforts of those who took publications to places where there were restrictions. The video explains that some risked a great deal to reach even Siberia, and that the members of the Governing Body were very grateful to them. They did not overlook those sacrifices. That gratitude contributes to unity because it shows how much the brothers\u2019 cooperation is valued. It motivates me to pay more attention to what others do and to express my appreciation to them.<\/p>

Comment 6:<\/strong> I appreciate that when new opportunities opened up in Eastern Europe, the Governing Body took action to promote the preaching work and care for the brothers. At the end of 1989, Brothers Henschel and Jaracz visited the Soviet Union and met with elders, circuit overseers, and members of the Country Committee. They wanted to learn firsthand about the situation. The video describes that visit as a grand shepherding visit. I like seeing that the interest in expanding the preaching work was accompanied by a desire to listen to and care for those who were already serving there.<\/p>
