He entered his homes, arrested both men and women and took them to prison. Besides, he had been present when Stephen was killed, so they had reason to think he was still dangerous.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>Saul did not merely oppose Christians in words. He was actively seeking the disciples to harm them. He even asked permission to go to Damascus and pursue Christians from there. Therefore, when he arrived in converted Jerusalem, the brothers could not easily believe that he had changed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>The brothers were afraid because they knew Saul&#8217;s reputation. For them he was one of the main enemies of Jesus&#8217; followers. His fear was understandable, but this story teaches that Jehovah can transform even a person who seems far from the truth.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 4:<\/strong><br\/>Saul had persecuted Christians so hard that, when he tried to meet them, they thought it could be a trap. They didn&#8217;t know if their change was real. This shows that regaining the trust of others may require time, patience and facts to show sincere change.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 5:<\/strong><br\/>Christians were afraid of him because Saul had caused much suffering to the congregation. However, Barnabas became interested in him and helped the apostles understand that Saul had really changed. His example reminds us that we should not judge someone just for his past.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why did Saul change?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 1:<\/strong><br\/>Saul changed because Jesus appeared to him on his way to Damascus. That experience made it clear to him that he was persecuting the disciples of Christ and was therefore opposing Jesus himself. That strong correction led him to fully reconsider his way of thinking.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>Saul&#8217;s change was possible because he humbly accepted the direction of Jesus. Although he was an expert Pharisee and had an important position, he heard what he was told, went to Damascus and allowed Ananias to help him. That shows he was sincere and humble.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>After regaining his sight, Saul learned more about Jesus and became convinced that he was the Messiah. He did not merely change his mind; he baptized and began to preach enthusiastically. His faith became evident by his actions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 4:<\/strong><br\/>Saul changed because Jehovah saw that he could become a useful instrument for bringing good news to many nations. Jesus told Ananias that he had chosen him for that work. This shows that Jehovah can see possibilities in a person others may not see.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 5:<\/strong><br\/>Saul&#8217;s change was profound because he completely left behind his previous way of acting. He went from persecuting Christians to courageously defending the teachings of Jesus. Eventually, he became known as Paul and served faithfully throughout his life.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional comments on the lesson 96: What do we learn in this lesson about Jehovah?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 1:<\/strong><br\/>We learn that Jehovah is very merciful. Saul had cruelly persecuted the disciples, but Jehovah did not consider him irrecoverable. It gave him the opportunity to change, learn the truth and become a faithful Christian. That gives us hope for ourselves and others.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>Jehovah can use imperfect people to fulfill his will. Saul had a very negative past, but he became a very valuable apostle. This teaches us that Jehovah is not only fixed on what someone was before, but on what it can become.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>We also learn that Jehovah directs the work of preaching. Jesus chose Saul to bring good news to many nations. This shows that preaching depends not only on human capabilities, but on the direction and support of Jehovah.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 4:<\/strong><br\/>Jehovah helped Saul through other brothers. Ananias obeyed the instruction of Jesus and Barnabas supported him when the others still distrust him. This shows us that Jehovah uses the congregation to help, encourage and strengthen those who are making spiritual progress.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 5:<\/strong><br\/>We learn that Jehovah can make his purpose move forward even when there is opposition. Saul tried to destroy the congregation, but ended up being one of his bravest defenders. Jehovah can turn difficult situations into opportunities for his name to be glorious.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What practical lessons do we learn to apply today in our lives?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 1:<\/strong><br\/>We shouldn&#8217;t think that a person is too far from the truth. Saul seemed to be one of the greatest enemies of Christians, but he became a faithful servant of Jehovah. This encourages us not to stop preaching or hopeful for those who seem unreceptive.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>Saul&#8217;s example teaches us that true repentance is demonstrated by visible changes. He not only said he had changed: he baptized, preached and endured opposition for Jesus. We also demonstrate our faith when our actions are in accordance with what we believe.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>We can imitate Ananias and Barnabas. Although they had doubts at first, they helped Saul integrate into the congregation. We too can support those who are making changes, especially the new ones, young people or those who come from a difficult past.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 4:<\/strong><br\/>This lesson helps us not to let the mistakes of the past discourage us. Saul had done serious things, but Jehovah allowed him to start over. If we sincerely repent and accept spiritual help, Jehovah can continue to use us in his service.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 5:<\/strong><br\/>The story reminds us that we must be humble when we receive correction. Saul had to accept that he was wrong and completely change his way of thinking. That humility allowed him to learn the truth and become a very useful Christian.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lesson 97: Cornelius receives holy spirit<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why didn&#8217;t Peter want to eat impure animals?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 1:<\/strong><br\/>Peter did not want to eat unclean animals because throughout his life he had obeyed the Law of Moses. That law prohibited Jews from eating certain animals, and Peter had always respected those standards. That&#8217;s why, seeing the vision, he reacted by saying he had never eaten anything impure.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>Peter&#8217;s reaction shows that he wanted to obey Jehovah. He did not refuse for rebellion, but because he thought eating these animals would be disobeying the law. However, the vision helped him to understand that Jehovah was teaching him something new and more important.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>Peter still needed to understand that, with the death of Jesus, the restrictions of the Food Law no longer applied to Christians. The vision prepared him to understand that Jehovah was willing to accept people from all nations.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 4:<\/strong><br\/>Although Peter had accompanied Jesus, he still had some ideas deeply rooted in his Jewish upbringing. Vision helped him adjust his way of thinking. This shows that even faithful servants need to continue to learn and let Jehovah correct their views.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 5:<\/strong><br\/>Peter didn&#8217;t want to eat unclean animals because he associated those foods with something forbidden. But Jehovah showed him that he should no longer consider impure what God had declared pure. The vision was a teaching that went far beyond food.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why did Jehovah tell Peter to go to the house of a Gentile?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 1:<\/strong><br\/>Jehovah told Peter to go to the house of Cornelius to teach him that he is not partial. Cornelius was not a Jew, but he feared Jehovah, prayed and did good things. Jehovah wanted to show that people of any nation could become their servants.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>The vision helped Peter understand that he should not consider non-Jewish people impure. When he arrived at the house in Cornelius, he recognized that God accepts those who respect him and do the right thing, regardless of his origin or nationality.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>Jehovah brought Peter to the house of Cornelius so that the Gentiles also might hear the good news about Jesus. That opened a new stage in preaching, because it became clear that the message of the Kingdom was not only for the Jews.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 4:<\/strong><br\/>Cornelius was a sincere man who sought to know Jehovah, but he needed to receive teaching about Jesus. Jehovah caused Peter to go to him to answer his prayers. This shows that Jehovah is interested in people who have a sincere heart.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 5:<\/strong><br\/>Jehovah wanted Peter to overcome any prejudice he might have. Seeing that Cornelius and his family received holy spirit, Peter clearly understood that Jehovah accepted them. That experience helped the whole congregation understand that Gentiles could become Christians.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional comments on lesson 97: What do we learn in this lesson about Jehovah?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 1:<\/strong><br\/>We learn that Jehovah is not partial. He does not judge people by their nationality, culture, language, or social position. Jehovah accepts those who fear him and do what is right. That helps us appreciate his love and justice even more.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>Jehovah hears the prayers of sincere people. Cornelius was not Jewish, but he prayed constantly and wanted to do the right thing. Jehovah answered his prayers by sending Peter to teach him about Jesus and the way of salvation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>We also learn that Jehovah guides his servants step by step. First he prepared Cornelius by an angel, and then prepared Peter with a vision. Thus he made sure that both understood that that visit was part of their purpose.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 4:<\/strong><br\/>Jehovah can help us correct prejudices or ideas that we have deeply rooted. Peter was faithful, but he needed to expand his way of seeing the Gentiles. Jehovah corrected him patiently. That shows that he understands our limitations and helps us progress.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 5:<\/strong><br\/>This account shows that Jehovah wants the good news to come to everyone. Cornelius, his family and those who were with him received holy spirit and baptized. Jehovah wants people from anywhere to have the opportunity to meet him and serve him.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What practical lessons do we learn to apply today in our lives?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 1:<\/strong><br\/>We learn not to judge people by their origin, appearance, culture or economic situation. Jehovah is not partial, and we want to imitate him. When we preach, we must treat everyone with respect and think that anyone can respond favorably to the truth.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>Peter&#8217;s example teaches us to be willing to adjust our way of thinking. Sometimes we may have very entrenched customs or ideas, but we must allow the Bible and the direction of Jehovah to help us correct them with humility.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>Cornelius teaches us that Jehovah values those who sincerely seek him. Although he did not yet know the whole truth, he prayed and did what he could to please God. We can imitate him by having a humble attitude and wishing to learn more from Jehovah.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 4:<\/strong><br\/>This lesson encourages us to respond quickly to the direction of Jehovah. Cornelius sent his men immediately, and Peter went with them, though he understood everything at first. When we obey the guidance of Jehovah, we can participate in very good things.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 5:<\/strong><br\/>We also learn the importance of opening our home and our heart to spiritual teaching. Cornelius gathered his family and others to listen to Peter.
