What does Jehovah want for the newlyweds?

Answer

Jehovah wants them to truly enjoy their wedding day and for their marriage to be happy and lasting. He does not see the wedding as a cold procedure, but as the beginning of a precious life together; that is why He wants that day to be an occasion of clean and beautiful joy (Proverbs 5:18; Song of Solomon 3:11).

Answer

And, besides wanting them to enjoy it, Jehovah desires that their wedding honors him. Not because He wants to “take the spotlight away from you,” but because He is the origin of marriage and the best Friend guiding them so that the most important decision of their life goes well. When the wedding honors Jehovah, you also gain (Psalms 37:3, 4).

Answer

So Jehovah’s desire is twofold: real happiness for you and a wedding that reflects his way of thinking. That creates a good start and lays spiritual foundations for the marriage, not just for “a nice day” (Proverbs 5:18).

3. What should Christian couples take into account when organizing their wedding, and why?

Answer

They should take into account the principles of God’s Word, because Jehovah is the Creator of marriage. If he designed it, it makes perfect sense that his point of view is the most important when deciding how the wedding will be and what surrounds it (Genesis 2:24).

Answer

Also because marriage is not just a party: it is an arrangement that Jehovah established, with purpose, dignity, and responsibilities. When you organize the wedding with that vision, you protect respect for marriage from the first day (Genesis 1:28; Genesis 2:24).

Answer

And, in the end, this does not limit: it guides. It is not “forbid for the sake of forbidding,” it is making decisions that strengthen the marriage and avoid things that later bring problems, stress, or regret (Matthew 22:21).

4. What is another good reason to take Jehovah’s point of view into account when organizing a wedding?

Answer

Because Jehovah is not only the Creator: he is your heavenly Father and your best friend. If you love him, you will naturally want to protect that friendship and avoid anything in the wedding that might hurt or offend him, even under social pressure or “tradition” (Hebrews 12:9; Psalms 25:14).

Answer

Also, thinking about everything Jehovah has already done for you — and what he will continue doing — awakens gratitude. A wedding that honors him is a very beautiful way of saying: “Jehovah, we want to start our life together with you” (Psalms 116:12).

Answer

And it is practical: when you put Jehovah first, decisions become clearer. Many arguments and pressures subside when the couple asks themselves: “Does this honor him?” (Psalms 25:14).

5. How can the Bible help engaged couples make good decisions about their wedding?

Answer

The Bible does not provide a rigid list of rules for weddings, so there is room for personal tastes and cultures. But it does provide principles that act as “filters”: what is decided can vary, but if it passes through those filters, the result will be dignified and spiritual (Philippians 4:8).

Answer

It also helps to maintain balance: respecting local laws, being conscious of a good reputation, and preventing a joyful event from becoming something worldly or out of control. This protects Jehovah’s name and the couple’s peace (Matthew 22:21; 1 Corinthians 10:31, 32).

Answer

And the Bible helps to make decisions with a clear mind when there is pressure: family, expectations, social media, comparison… Biblical principles ground the wedding in what really matters: honoring Jehovah and strengthening the marriage (1 John 2:15-17).

6. Why is it important for couples to meet the legal requirements to marry? (Romans 13:1, 2).

Answer

Because Jehovah expects his servants to respect the authorities and the laws of the country, as long as they do not contradict his commands. Complying with the law honors Jehovah and avoids problems that could tarnish the good Christian name (Romans 13:1, 2).

Answer

Additionally, doing so provides peace of mind: if everything is in order, the couple can focus on the spiritual aspects and enjoy the day, without stress over paperwork, dates, or procedures. It is a way to be responsible from the beginning (Romans 13:1, 2).

Answer

And asking for help if needed is humility, not weakness. Sometimes elders can guide on how to organize or what steps to take to ensure everything is done correctly (Romans 13:1, 2).

7. What kind of atmosphere should there be at weddings?

Answer

An appropriate, dignified, and joyful atmosphere that reflects the fruit of the spirit and not the spirit of the world. The wedding should make attendees feel: “this is clean, beautiful, and honors God,” not “this seems like just any party” (Galatians 5:19-26).

Answer

Also an atmosphere that maintains a good reputation. We do not want anyone to leave with a bad impression due to excesses, awkward behaviors, or things that could offend consciences. Everything should be done with Jehovah and others in mind (1 Corinthians 10:31, 32).

Answer

And the ceremony itself, with a biblical discourse presented with love and dignity, helps a lot to create that atmosphere. That’s why many couples choose a Kingdom Hall if possible, because the setting already conveys respect for marriage (1 Corinthians 10:31, 32).

8. What can the bride and groom do to ensure that the celebration has a dignified atmosphere? (Romans 13:13).

Answer

They can be proactive with alcohol: if they decide to serve it, set limits and measures so that no one drinks too much. Romans warns against uncontrolled parties; so it is not about “prohibiting”, but about avoiding excess that ruins dignity (Romans 13:13).

Answer

Also take care of the music: volume that allows conversation, clean lyrics and a style that does not create a mundane or uncomfortable atmosphere. The music sets the tone of the event; If not chosen well, it can drag down the environment in minutes (Romans 13:13).

Answer

And think about the schedule and the type of fun: make it something that encourages, a healthy joy. The goal is for guests to leave comforted, not feeling disorganized or “this is out of control” (Romans 13:13).

9. What should the couple take into account regarding what will be done during the celebration?

Answer

May everything you do be appropriate, encouraging, and respectful of marriage. Details like words, videos, or entertainment can be precious, but they have to pass a filter: “Does this edify? Does this honor Jehovah?” (Philippians 4:8).

Answer

They should also think about how attendees will perceive it. Sometimes something that one group finds funny, others may find humiliating, vulgar or uncomfortable. At a wedding, it is safe to protect the dignity of the couple and the cleanliness of the environment (Ephesians 5:3).

Answer

And it is key to talk about it with those who participate: make clear the limits and the desired tone. This way they avoid surprises and ensure that everything adds up, not tarnishes a day that should be remembered fondly (Philippians 4:8).

10. Why should couples be modest when planning their wedding? (1 John 2:15-17).

Answer

Because Jehovah values that we honor Him, not that we show off or boast. Modesty protects the heart: it prevents the wedding from becoming a competition, a display, or an absurd financial burden (1 John 2:15-17).

Answer

In addition, a simple wedding usually brings very practical benefits: less stress, fewer decisions, fewer arguments, and less pressure. Many couples discover that the simple is more enjoyable because it is experienced with peace (Proverbs 15:22).

Answer

And it also protects the future. Starting marriage with debt or unnecessary financial pressure can bring tension from the first month. Modesty today can mean peace tomorrow (1 John 2:15-17).

11. How can the bride and groom show that they are modest in the way they dress and groom themselves? (See also the images).

Answer

By choosing clothing and grooming that is decent, appropriate, and elegant without being excessively flashy. Wanting to look nice is normal, but modesty prevents crossing the line of ‘I am the center’ or attracting attention for the wrong reasons (1 Timothy 2:9).

Answer

Also, by making sure that material things do not become the “most outstanding” part of the wedding. The goal is not for people to remember “what dress” or “what luxury,” but the dignity of the occasion and the pure joy that was felt (1 Peter 3:3, 4).

Answer

And that includes balance in everything: makeup, hairstyle, jewelry, even the type of photos. Modesty makes beauty natural and keeps the focus where it belongs: on Jehovah and on the marriage (1 Timothy 2:9).

12. Why should the couple make sure to reject customs that do not agree with what the Bible says?

Answer

Because many wedding customs have roots in false religion, superstitions, or the occult, and Jehovah asks us to stay clean from those things. Honoring Jehovah involves not mixing the pure with the impure, even if it is a “tradition” (Revelation 18:4).

Answer

In addition, some traditions seem innocent but carry a wrong spiritual message. That is why it is advisable to investigate the origin and apply biblical principles before including them. This way the couple acts with a clear conscience and firm faith (2 Corinthians 6:14-17).

Answer

And rejecting something inappropriate is not “being strange,” it is protecting friendship with Jehovah. That day should strengthen the beginning of the marriage, not leave doubts or spiritual regrets (Revelation 18:4).

13. How can the engaged couple show that they see gifts as Jehovah does?

Answer

By conveying that gifts are voluntary and that any gesture is appreciated out of love, not obligation. Jehovah loves a cheerful giver, so the couple does not want anyone to feel pressured or embarrassed for giving a little (2 Corinthians 9:7).

Answer

Also by showing sincere gratitude. When the couple thanks warmly and without comparing, they reflect Jehovah’s viewpoint: what matters is affection, not the value of the object (Proverbs 11:25).

Answer

And, if there are customs of “lists” or expectations, they can handle them tactfully so as not to create a commercial atmosphere. Let the wedding feel spiritual and family-oriented, not like a transaction (Acts 20:35).

14. What difficulties do some couples face?

Answer

Cultural and family pressure: who to invite, how many people, how much to spend, what “should” be done according to tradition. Sometimes culture assumes that everyone must be invited or that the wedding must be huge (Proverbs 29:25).

Answer

Also comparisons: “my cousin had an amazing wedding,” “in our family it’s done like this,” “if you don’t do it, you’ll look bad.” That can push decisions that later bring stress, debt, or arguments (1 John 2:15-17).

Answer

And internal disagreements: the couple may want to honor Jehovah and keep it simple, but tastes, expectations, or fears clash. That is why spiritual guidance and calm, not impulsiveness, are needed (Proverbs 15:22).

15. Why is it important to pray about everything related to the wedding?

Answer

Because prayer brings Jehovah into the center of every decision: budget, guests, music, customs, family pressure. Philippians says to bring everything to God, and that brings peace and mental clarity during a period that can be stressful (Philippians 4:6, 7).

Answer

Also because asking for help is not only “to make it turn out well,” but to stay calm, be courageous when limits need to be set, and act with love when there are tensions. Jehovah can give strength and wisdom in the moment (1 Peter 5:7).

Answer

And because seeing answers strengthens the couple’s faith. Praying together before discussing plans unites, lowers the tone of conflict, and helps make the wedding the first major project of the marriage with Jehovah as guide (Philippians 4:6, 7).

16, 17. Why is it important to have good communication when organizing a wedding?

Answer

Because there are many decisions, and if they are not talked about well, frustration accumulates. Proverbs says that with good consultation plans succeed; speaking clearly and respectfully avoids misunderstandings and silly arguments (Proverbs 15:22).

Answer

Additionally, communication must include tact with families. If the parents make reasonable requests, one can try to please them; and if not, explain the reasons with affection. The way it is said matters as much as the decision (Colossians 4:6).

Answer

And if the parents are not Witnesses, even more: kindness, patience, and sometimes agreements on neutral matters without compromising principles are needed. That requires talking a lot, calmly, and keeping clear the goal: to honor Jehovah and enjoy in peace (Colossians 4:6).

18. What will help the couple to ensure everything goes as planned? (1 Corinthians 14:40; see also the image).

Answer

Careful organization. The Bible says that everything should be done decently and in order, and this applies perfectly to a wedding: planning reduces stress, avoids improvisation, and makes the day flow smoothly (1 Corinthians 14:40).

Answer

Meeting beforehand with those who will help is also key: reviewing the program, rehearsing parts, confirming schedules, roles, and “what to do if X happens.” This avoids chaos and shows respect for the guests (1 Corinthians 14:40).

Answer

And keeping to the schedule is a form of love. If the wedding is well organized, the couple enjoys it more, the guests are comfortable, and the atmosphere remains dignified (1 Corinthians 14:40).

19. What will help the couple control what happens during the reception?

Answer

Being foresighted. Proverbs says that the prudent sees danger and hides; applied to a wedding, it means anticipating typical problems: uninvited guests, excessive alcohol, impromptu speeches, inappropriate music (Proverbs 22:3).

Answer

Also, speak clearly with non-Witness family members: explain what our weddings are like and what things will not be done. If they understand beforehand, there will be fewer surprises and less tension during the event (2 Corinthians 6:14-17).

Answer

And appointing a mature brother as “banquet director” can be a great help. If he knows the decisions well, he can handle unforeseen events and protect the good atmosphere without the couple having to watch over everything (John 2:8).

20. What should the couple keep in mind?

Answer

That the wedding is one day, but marriage is a lifetime. It is worth not wearing themselves out or losing peace over details, because what is truly important is beginning a journey together serving Jehovah with joy (Psalms 37:3, 4).

Answer

Also remember that a dignified and simple occasion is usually the happiest: less pressure, more naturalness, more spiritual focus. And that leaves clean memories, without regrets (1 John 2:15-17).

Answer

And trust in Jehovah: if you put him first, the day will go well in the way that truly matters. Later, you will look back with a smile and feel: “we honored Jehovah and enjoyed ourselves” (Psalms 37:3, 4).

REVIEW QUESTIONS

Why do the couple want their wedding to honor Jehovah?

Answer

Because Jehovah is the Creator of marriage, so they want the start of their life together to reflect respect for the arrangement he made. Honoring Jehovah is acknowledging: “this comes from you” (Genesis 2:24).

Answer

And because Jehovah is their Father and best friend. They want to protect that friendship and not do anything that would sadden him. Also, honoring him is a way of expressing gratitude for everything he does for them (Hebrews 12:9; Psalms 116:12).

What will help the couple create a worthy and appropriate environment on their wedding day?

Answer

Applying biblical principles in practical ways: Bible-based speech, order, good testimony, and an environment that reflects the fruit of the spirit, not the spirit of the world (1 Corinthians 10:31, 32; Galatians 5:19-26).

Answer

And being mindful of things that quickly change the atmosphere: alcohol, music, type of entertainment, and tone of the interventions. Everything should pass through this filter: “Does it build up? Is it clean? Does it honor Jehovah?” (Romans 13:13; Philippians 4:8).

How will the bride and groom benefit if they choose to have a simple wedding?

Answer

They will have less stress and fewer disagreements because a simple wedding reduces decisions, social pressure, and conflicts. This allows them to enjoy the day more and protect their peace (Proverbs 15:22).

Answer

Additionally, they will avoid debt and starting the marriage with a financial burden. A modest wedding can leave memories just as beautiful —or even more so— and, above all, allows them to focus on what is important: their life together with Jehovah (1 John 2:15-17).

Answers for the Watchtower Study for this week from February 23 to March 1, 2026, brief and practical comments.
