We live in a world where many people put their trust in all kinds of things: money, technology, governments, human strength or even their own capabilities. But sooner or later, all of that proves to have limits. Therefore, the words of Jehovah that we find in Isaiah 46 are so shocking and so necessary today. In Isaiah 46:9, Jehovah saith, Remember the above things long ago, that I am God, and there is none else. I am God, and there is no one like me.<\/p>\n\n

What a powerful statement. Jehovah doesn’t just say he’s stronger than others. He says there’s no one like him<\/strong>. No one thinks like him, no one loves like him, no one acts with his wisdom, his righteousness, his patience and his power. And the more we meditate on the way Jehovah has acted throughout history, the more convinced that these words are completely true.<\/p>\n\n

Let us think, for example, of everything that has happened since Satan rebelled. Satan has tried by all means that Jehovah does not fulfill his purpose. It has promoted disobedience, lies, idolatry, violence and corruption. He has influenced rulers, nations and entire systems to oppose Jehovah. And yet it has failed again and again. That teaches us a lot. The rebellion of Satan and of all those who have taken his side has caused much pain to Jehovah. The Bible lets you see. But Jehovah has not reacted impulsively or unjustly. He has handled the whole situation with wisdom, patience and justice.<\/p>\n\n

That’s something no human being could do that well. When someone hurts or opposes us, sometimes we react in a hurry, frustration or even discouragement. Not Jehovah. He sees the full picture. He knows when to act, how to act and why act. He has demonstrated his power in many ways, but above all he has made clear his love in everything he does. He’s never stopped working to sanctify his name. So when Jehovah saith, There is no one like me, it is not an empty phrase. It’s a truth demonstrated over and over again.<\/p>\n\n

Now Isaiah 46 also teaches us another great lesson: nothing can prevent Jehovah from doing his will<\/strong>. Read Isaiah 46:10, 11. There Jehovah saith, From the beginning, I foretold the end, and, from a long time ago, things that have not yet been done. I say, “My decision will remain, and I will do whatever I want.” I call a ragnacious bird from the east, from a distant country, to the man who will make my decision. I said it and I will. I’ve proposed and I’ll do it.<\/p>\n\n

What a quietness these words produce. Jehovah does not say, I will try. He also says, “I’ll do my part and then we’ll see what happens.” He says, “I said it and I will. I’ve proposed and I’ll do it. That means that no obstacle, no enemy, no world power, no unexpected situation can thwart Jehovah’s will.<\/p>\n\n

And the story confirms it. Let us think of the people of Judah. In 607 before our age, the land of Judah was desolate. Jerusalem was destroyed, the people were taken into exile, and from a human point of view it seemed that everything was lost. Anyone could have thought: Is it over. There’s no hope anymore. Babylon has won. But Jehovah had already said that exile would not be forever. He had predicted that they would serve the king of Babylon seventy years, and that then a faithful rest would be released.<\/p>\n\n

Here we see clearly that there is no one like Jehovah. A world power like Babylon seemed impregnable, impossible to bring down. But even Babylon couldn’t break down God’s purpose. At the exact moment, Jehovah acted. He allowed the fall of Babylon and opened the way for his people to return. Thus, the return of exile demonstrated the infallible accuracy with which the prophecies of Jehovah are fulfilled.<\/p>\n\n

And that has a very practical lesson for us. Sometimes there are situations in our lives that seem enormous to us, almost impossible to solve. Perhaps family pressure, an economic problem, illness, emotional test or spiritual concern. And from our point of view it may seem like the problem is too big. But Isaiah 46 reminds us of something fundamental: if Jehovah has a purpose, no one can stop it. And if Jehovah promises to help us, guide us and sustain us, we can be sure that he will keep his word.<\/p>\n\n

Of course, Jehovah uses his power in many ways. He uses it to create, protect, restore. He uses it to teach important aspects of his personality and his standards. But, above all, he uses it to fulfill his will, sanctify his holy name through the Messianic Kingdom and show that his way of governing is the best. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can prevent you from doing what you propose.<\/p>\n\n

However, Isaiah 46 also warns us of something very serious. It shows us the sad end of those who put their trust in false gods. Let us read Isaiah 46:6 7: Are there people who waste the gold of their bag, who weighs the silver on the scales. They hire a goldsmith, and he turns that into a god. Then they prostrate themselves, yes, they start to worship him. They throw it on his shoulder, load it and put it in place, and there he stays. It doesn’t move from where it is. They beg him, but he does not answer; he cannot save anyone from his anguish.<\/p>\n\n

The image is almost ironic. People make a god with their own hands, then they have to load it, place it and even protect it. And then they expect that god to help them. But that god doesn’t hear, he doesn’t answer, he doesn’t act, he doesn’t save anyone. What a great contrast to Jehovah, the living God, the God who speaks, who hears, who acts and fulfills what he promises.<\/p>\n\n

But this matter doesn’t belong only to the past. Today, most may not bow to a metal or wooden idol, but the false gods still exist. And that forces us to examine ourselves. For example, many people serve wealth. Jesus warned against serving the Waxes, rather than Jehovah. Paul spoke of greed, which is idolatry. And he also spoke of people whose god is their belly. In other words, today many turn money, comfort, pleasure, social position or personal desires into God.<\/p>\n\n

And here you need to be honest. It’s easy to think, that happens to the world. But the question is: could it affect us too? A person can love Jehovah and yet gradually begin to rely too much on material security. You can start to think it’ll be fine only if you have more money, more stability, more possessions, more control over your life. But these things are unsafe, temporary, and do not meet spiritual needs. They can give some comfort, but not deep peace. They can fill the house, but not the heart. They may impress others, but do not approach Jehovah.<\/p>\n\n

Therefore, walking in the path of Jehovah requires loyalty. It requires the determination to serve him only. It also demands confidence: a complete faith that its promises are reliable and will be made. And it demands obedience: to follow its laws, principles and high standards, even if the world thinks differently.<\/p>\n\n

Let’s think of some practical examples. When there’s economic pressure, who do we trust first? In the money or in Jehovah? When we make decisions about work, studies, schedules or goals, what does it weigh the most: to move spiritually or to get more comfort? When we face anxiety for the future, do we first seek Jehovah’s guidance or do we let ourselves be dragged by the way of thinking of the world? These questions are important because they reveal whether Jehovah is truly our God or whether, without realizing it, we are beginning to depend on other Gods.<\/p>\n\n

The good news is that Jehovah never disappoints those who trust in him. The fake gods end up letting down. Wealth is insecure. Prestige fades. Human force fails. But Jehovah remains. Jehovah is righteous, he loves righteous acts, and always cares for those who walk in his way.<\/p>\n\n

So, when I think about today’s subject, I am God, and there is no one like me, what should we take? First, there is no one like Jehovah<\/strong>. No one has his wisdom, his patience, his righteousness, his love and his power. Second, nothing can prevent Jehovah from doing his will<\/strong>. What he says, he does. What he proposes fulfills it. And third, that those who trust in false gods end up disappointed<\/strong>, while those who trust in Jehovah never lose.<\/p>\n\n

Therefore, let us do the firm purpose of always remembering the previous things of a long time ago. Let us remember how Jehovah has acted. Let us remember how he has kept his promises. Let us remember how he has held his people over and over again. And in doing so, let us strengthen our conviction that serving Jehovah is always the best way.<\/p>\n\n

May each one of us say with total confidence, not only with his lips but with all his life: yes, Jehovah is God, and there is no one like him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
