To the Jews he became as a Jew, and to the weak he became weak. He did not expect everyone to adapt to him; rather, he made the effort to reach out to them.

Comment 2:
Paul did not treat everyone in exactly the same way. He took into account their background, their culture, and their conscience. In that way he avoided raising unnecessary barriers and could present the good news in a way that was easier for them to understand.

Comment 3:
Paul showed personal interest because he did not focus only on conveying information. He thought about what could help each individual to listen to and accept the message. The way he preached showed that he cared about the salvation of those in front of him.

Comment 4:
Although Paul adapted, he never disobeyed Jehovah’s standards. He made clear that he was under the law of the Christ. Therefore, being adaptable does not mean lowering Bible principles but respectfully changing the way we present the message.

Comment 5:
The expression “I have become all things to people of all sorts” shows how much effort Paul was willing to make. He did not preach mechanically. He observed people and looked for the best way to reach their heart.

Why did Paul work so hard at being adaptable?

Comment 1:
Paul made the effort because he wanted to “gain” people. His goal was not simply to fulfill an obligation to speak but to help them draw close to Jehovah and have the opportunity to be saved.

Comment 2:
Verse 23 says that he did all things for the sake of the good news. Paul valued the message so much that he was willing to change his customs or personal preferences when that helped someone else to listen to it.

Comment 3:
Paul knew that a presentation that worked with one person might not work with another. That is why he adapted his line of reasoning. His effort showed that he considered the needs of the person more important than his own comfort.

Comment 4:
He also adapted so as not to create unnecessary obstacles. If he could change the way he spoke or behaved without violating any Bible principle, he gladly did so, because he wanted the focus to be on the good news and not on personal differences.

Comment 5:
Paul did not expect to save everyone, for he said that he wanted to save “by all possible means some.” Even so, he felt that each person deserved his best effort. That love moved him to be flexible, patient, and observant.

Although the brother had prepared a topic to start the conversation, how did he adapt to the situation?

Comment 1:
The brother had prepared a conversation about whether God listens to prayers. However, when he got to the door he saw that the man was busy repairing the water heater. Instead of automatically starting with his topic, he paid attention to what was going on.

Comment 2:
He adapted by acknowledging that the man had his “hands full.” He told him that he understood the problem because his own water heater had broken down the month before. In that way he started by talking about the person’s real situation, not about the topic he had prepared.

Comment 3:
The brother did not try to force him to listen. He told him that they would let him get on with the repair. That response showed respect for his time and his circumstances, and it made clear that he did not want to recite a presentation without caring how the man felt.

Comment 4:
They also adapted by looking for common ground. When the man explained that he had previously had problems with the roof and the heating, the sister commented that the house they were renovating was also giving them plenty of surprises. That made the conversation natural.

Comment 5:
The brother even offered to show him some videos that had saved him hours when repairing his own water heater. When the man turned down the help but asked why they were there, the brother took up that invitation to talk about something that had helped his family. (Scribd)

Why is it important that we show people how much we care about them?

Comment 1:
It is important because a person will be more willing to listen to us if they sense that our interest is sincere. The man was busy and could have ended the conversation quickly, but the couple’s empathy led him to ask them himself why they had come.

Comment 2:
Showing personal interest turns a prepared presentation into a real conversation. In the video, the brother did not see the man as just one more door in the territory but as someone who was dealing with a specific problem and perhaps needed understanding.

Comment 3:
Acts of kindness can open the door to a conversation. The brother offered practical help before presenting the message. Although the man did not need that help, he could tell that the offer was sincere and that the couple cared about him.

Comment 4:
It is also important because it keeps us from thinking only about ourselves and about what we are going to say next. When we listen and observe, we can imagine how the person feels and choose words that fit their needs better.

Comment 5:
People may forget the exact words we used, but they can remember how we treated them. If we show respect, empathy, and kindness, we help them see that the good news comes from people who truly want their well-being.

“Be Adaptable and Show Personal Interest” How did Paul show that he cared about people?
