Why do we sometimes make decisions different from those of other brothers and sisters?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>Sometimes we make different decisions because we have not all had the same upbringing or life experiences. Our culture, family, and circumstances influence the way we think. Such differences are normal, but we must not allow them to disturb the peace or unity of the congregation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>Ephesians 4:3 encourages us to make every effort to maintain unity through the bond of peace. This shows that unity does not depend on everyone having identical opinions; it results when we put love and peace above our personal preferences.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>Two brothers may love Jehovah deeply and still reach different conclusions on a personal matter. That does not necessarily mean that one is more spiritual than the other. Each may be applying Bible principles to different circumstances and making a responsible decision before Jehovah.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. What might lead us to judge a brother\u2019s decision?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>A sincere desire to protect him might lead us to judge his decision. We may think that our experience enables us to know what is best and feel that we need to convince him. However, good intentions do not automatically give us the right to interfere in all his personal decisions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>Proverbs 17:17 says that a true friend loves at all times. Out of love, we want to prevent a brother from harming himself. But that same love should help us distinguish between a real spiritual danger and a mere difference of opinion.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>We may also judge others when we are very sure that our decision is the best one. Without realizing it, we might go from thinking, \u201cThis is what I would do,\u201d to saying, \u201cThis is what everyone should do.\u201d We need to remember that our personal experience does not become a Bible law for others.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4, 5. What should we do if a Christian makes a decision different from the one we would have made?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>First, we should determine whether his decision clearly violates a Bible command. If it does, love may move us to help him tactfully. But if it does not violate any of Jehovah\u2019s laws, we should respect his right to decide, even if we would have acted differently.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>Proverbs 27:5, 6 shows that sincere correction from a friend can be an expression of love. However, Romans 14:1 makes it clear that we should not judge matters involving differences of opinion. These texts help us distinguish between correcting wrong conduct and imposing our personal preferences.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>Even if we find a decision difficult to understand, we should not try to persuade the brother to change it or speak negatively about it to others. We can trust that he has prayed, done research, and accepted his responsibility before Jehovah. Respecting his decision shows humility and protects peace.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WHAT DECISIONS MIGHT WE FEEL TEMPTED TO JUDGE?<\/h1>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6, 7. Mention situations in which we might feel tempted to judge the decisions of others.<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>We might judge brothers and sisters who choose to drink alcoholic beverages in moderation, follow a medical treatment different from the one we chose, or attend a funeral held in a church. Our personal experiences may stir strong feelings, but they do not make our opinion a rule for everyone.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>We might also criticize decisions related to wearing a beard, formal clothing, or additional education. Perhaps we know someone who made a similar decision and experienced bad results. But one person\u2019s experience does not prove that everyone else will have the same outcome.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>Romans 14 teaches that Christians can make different decisions without either one necessarily disobeying Jehovah. Therefore, we should analyze the matter in the light of the Bible and current direction instead of relying only on old customs, personal fears, or negative experiences.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. (a) Why might parents begin to judge other parents?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>Some parents may begin judging others when they compare the rules set by each family. Some may allow their children to come home later, get a phone sooner, or enjoy certain entertainment. Such differences might lead parents with stricter rules to conclude that the others are too permissive.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>Ephesians 6:4 entrusts parents with raising their children according to Jehovah\u2019s discipline and admonition. Each family must fulfill that responsibility while considering the age, maturity, and needs of its children. That is why not every household will have exactly the same rules.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>Comparisons may increase when children ask why their parents do not allow them to do what others do. Instead of criticizing other families, parents can calmly explain the reasons for their own rules and teach their children that each family is accountable to Jehovah for its decisions.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. (b) What could happen if we question our brothers\u2019 personal decisions?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>We could create tension and divisions in the congregation. A brother may feel that we are watching him or that he must constantly defend his decisions. What began as a minor difference could end up damaging a friendship and affecting the peace of the entire congregation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>We could also turn our preferences into a kind of unwritten rule. Others may feel pressured to spend their money, enjoy their vacations, or choose entertainment according to our standards, even though the Bible allows them to make a different decision.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>If our opinions become more important to us than unity, we could forget what truly matters. The congregation does not exist so that everyone will imitate our customs but so that we can worship Jehovah together. Respecting personal differences helps create a safe and welcoming environment.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. What should we remember?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>We should remember that two different decisions do not necessarily mean that one is right and the other is wrong. Christians share the same Bible standards and the same goal, but we may choose different ways to apply those standards according to our circumstances.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>Romans 14:5 indicates that each person should be fully convinced of his own decision. This encourages us to study and decide responsibly, but it also helps us recognize that another brother may be just as convinced of a different choice.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>It is like several people choosing different routes and means of transportation to reach the same place. Similarly, brothers and sisters can take different paths in personal matters while still having the same spiritual goal: to please Jehovah and preserve their friendship with him.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WHY RESPECT THE DECISIONS OF OTHERS<\/h1>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. According to James 4:12, what authority do we not have, and why?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>We do not have the authority to create personal laws and judge our brothers by them. Jehovah is the only Lawgiver and Supreme Judge. He fully knows each person\u2019s heart, circumstances, and motives, whereas we see only a small part of the situation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>James 4:12 asks who we are to judge our neighbor. This verse helps us remain humble. Even if we have experience or responsibilities in the congregation, we do not occupy Jehovah\u2019s place, nor can we demand that everyone act according to our standards.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>Romans 14:10 reminds us that we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. Each brother will have to answer to Jehovah for his own decisions. Therefore, we should not add the burden of having to satisfy our personal opinions too.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. How do we contribute to the unity of the congregation?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>We contribute to unity when we accept that Jehovah wants unity, not uniformity. He created an immense variety of people, cultures, and personalities. So we can enjoy our differences without allowing them to become a source of rivalry, criticism, or division.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>Romans 14:19 encourages us to pursue the things that promote peace and build others up. This means that even if we have strong opinions, we value the peace of the congregation more than proving that our way of doing things is superior.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>We also contribute to unity by speaking positively about our brothers. If someone makes a different decision, we do not make jokes, critical comments, or insinuations about his spirituality. By respecting his decision, we help everyone feel valued and safe within the congregation.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HOW TO RESPECT THE OPINIONS AND DECISIONS OF OTHERS<\/h1>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12, 13. What should we ask ourselves if it seems that someone has taken a false step?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>First, we should ask ourselves whether he is truly taking a false step or simply taking a step different from the one we would take. A false step involves disregarding a Bible standard. On the other hand, a different personal decision may be entirely valid even if it does not match our preference.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>Galatians 6:1 says that those who have the necessary spiritual qualifications should try to readjust the brother in a spirit of mildness. Thus, even when there is a real mistake, we do not act harshly or as though we were superior. We should also consider whether we are the right person to intervene.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>Most of the time, we will find that no Bible standard has been violated. In that case, we should let the brother decide without questioning him or speaking negatively about him. Just as we would not force a friend to order the same food as we do, we should not try to make his personal decision for him.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">14. How can you contribute to the unity of the congregation by making personal decisions?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>We can contribute by considering not only our rights but also the effect our decision may have on others. Even if something is permitted, we might choose to give it up temporarily if we know that it would cause real spiritual harm to a brother with a sensitive conscience.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>First Corinthians 8:12, 13 shows that wounding a brother\u2019s conscience is a serious matter. Paul was willing to give up something permitted so as not to cause his brother to stumble. His example teaches us that love can move us to limit our freedom voluntarily.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>This does not mean that we have to let all the preferences of others control our life. Romans 12:18 says that we should do what is reasonably within our power to live peaceably. We seek a balance between respecting our conscience and showing consideration for the consciences of others.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">15. How can the elders contribute to the unity of the congregation?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>Elders contribute to unity by not creating rules on personal matters. When a brother asks for advice, they do not simply tell him what they would do. They help him analyze Bible principles so that he can make a responsible decision before Jehovah.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>First Corinthians 4:6 advises us not to go beyond the things that are written. So the elders are careful not to turn their experience, culture, or preference into a rule for the congregation. They stay within what the Bible and the publications actually say.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>They also make sure that brothers and sisters are not labeled spiritual or unspiritual because of personal decisions. Their balanced example creates an environment in which everyone respects the Bible\u2019s authority without feeling controlled by human opinions.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">16. How does each elder show that he respects the decisions made by the body of elders?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>He shows respect by supporting the decision that the body made after praying, studying the Bible, and analyzing the matter. Even if his personal proposal was not accepted, he does not speak negatively about the decision or try to form a group to support his opinion.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>Ephesians 5:17 encourages us to understand what Jehovah\u2019s will is. The elders seek that will together and rely on the holy spirit. Once a decision has been made, each one shows humility by supporting the conclusion reached by the majority.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>They also respect the decision by interpreting the organization\u2019s instructions carefully. They do not take statements out of context or later try to prove that their opinion was better. Loyalty and cooperation strengthen trust and unity within the body of elders.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">17. What are the benefits of respecting the decisions of others?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>The congregation becomes a more welcoming place. Brothers and sisters can show their personality and make responsible decisions without fear of being criticized for every difference. This allows people of different ages, cultures, and backgrounds to enjoy a true spiritual family.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>Psalm 133:1 highlights how good and pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity. When we respect personal decisions, we avoid unnecessary conflicts and enjoy a congregation that is peaceful, happy, and focused on worshipping Jehovah.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>In addition, we demonstrate maturity and humility. We stop measuring the spirituality of others by how much they resemble us and learn to value their good qualities. Variety then becomes, not a threat, but something that enriches Jehovah\u2019s people.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BOX: \u201cIF A DECISION SEEMS WRONG TO YOU\u201d<\/h1>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does his decision violate any Bible command?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment:<\/strong><br\/>This is the first question because it distinguishes a moral issue from a personal preference. If no Bible command is involved, we probably have no basis for claiming that the brother is acting wrongly, even if his choice seems unwise to us.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How might his upbringing and background have influenced his decision?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment:<\/strong><br\/>A person\u2019s background can explain many decisions. Different family, cultural, or economic experiences cause people to evaluate risks and benefits differently. Thinking about that background helps us show empathy and avoid jumping to conclusions.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Could his decision really harm him, or am I merely imagining the worst?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment:<\/strong><br\/>Sometimes we project our fears onto others and take it for granted that the worst outcome will occur. This question helps us distinguish a proven danger from a concern based only on assumptions or a previous negative experience.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What benefits might his decision bring him?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment:<\/strong><br\/>When we disagree with someone, we tend to focus on the possible drawbacks. Asking ourselves what benefits he might receive forces us to view the matter from his perspective and acknowledge that he may have considered factors we do not know about.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is he taking a false step, or is he simply taking a step different from the one I would take?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment:<\/strong><br\/>This is the central question in the box. Not every difference is a mistake. A brother may choose a different route and still walk uprightly before Jehovah. Recognizing this spares us needless worry and protects our relationships.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If he is taking a false step, do I have the necessary spiritual qualifications to help him?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment:<\/strong><br\/>Even when a mistake has been made, we are not always the right person to correct it. We may not know all the facts, or the matter may need to be handled by his parents or the elders. Humility helps us intervene only when we can truly do so in a Scriptural and peaceable way.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">COMMENTS ON THE PICTURES<\/h1>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Picture for paragraph 9: Different routes to the same destination<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 1:<\/strong><br\/>The picture shows that an app may offer several routes and means of transportation for reaching the same destination. Not everyone has to take the same route. Similarly, Christians can make different personal decisions and still move toward the goal of pleasing Jehovah.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>One route may suit a person better because of his schedule, resources, or circumstances. This teaches us not to judge another person\u2019s decision solely from the standpoint of our own situation. His choice may make sense when all the factors are known.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>What truly matters is not that we all choose the same path in personal matters but that no one abandons the spiritual destination. Jehovah\u2019s standards are the same for everyone; the way we apply them may legitimately vary.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Picture for paragraph 11: Brothers with different backgrounds enjoying time together<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 1:<\/strong><br\/>The picture shows brothers of different ages and backgrounds. Some drink alcohol and others do not; some have beards and others do not. Despite these personal differences, all of them enjoy being together and treat one another as members of a spiritual family.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 2:<\/strong><br\/>The picture shows that unity does not require uniformity. Jehovah does not want all of us to have exactly the same appearance, customs, or preferences. He wants those differences to be governed by love and respect.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comment 3:<\/strong><br\/>It also helps us ask whether our congregation conveys that same sense of welcome. We can contribute by avoiding comments that make others feel like outsiders or inferior because of a personal decision that the Bible allows.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HOW DO THESE SCRIPTURES HELP US RESPECT THE OPINIONS AND DECISIONS OF OTHERS?<\/h1>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">James 4:12<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>It reminds us that Jehovah is the only Lawgiver and Judge. Therefore, we must not create personal standards or evaluate the spirituality of our brothers according to our own criteria.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>The verse promotes humility because we do not fully know the situation or the heart of others. Jehovah does have all the information needed to judge righteously.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>It also helps us focus on our own decisions and responsibilities instead of devoting energy to controlling personal matters that belong to others.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Galatians 6:1<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>It teaches us to distinguish a real fault from a mere difference of opinion. Only when there has been a false step should we consider offering corrective help.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>If we need to help, we should do so in a spirit of mildness. Our aim is not to embarrass or control the brother or to show that we are superior, but to help him restore a good relationship with Jehovah.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 3:<\/strong><br\/>The verse also encourages us to examine whether we have the necessary spiritual qualifications to intervene. In some cases, the wisest course will be to let another, more qualified person handle the matter.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1 Corinthians 4:6; 8:12, 13<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 1:<\/strong><br\/>First Corinthians 4:6 helps us not to go beyond what is written. We should not turn personal preferences, experiences, or interpretations into rules for the whole congregation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer 2:<\/strong><br\/>First Corinthians 8:12, 13 reminds us that Christian freedom must be guided by love.
