So, who is Jehovah?<\/p>\n\n First of all, Jehovah is God\u2019s personal name. Let\u2019s read what he himself says at Isaiah 42:8: \u201cI am Jehovah. That is my name.\u201d<\/strong> Words such as \u201cGod,\u201d \u201cLord,\u201d or \u201cCreator\u201d are titles. For example, a person may be a father, a teacher, or a doctor, but he also has a name. Similarly, God has many titles, but his name is Jehovah.<\/p>\n\n This name appears thousands of times in ancient Bible manuscripts. It was written with four Hebrew letters corresponding to the consonants YHWH. Although its original pronunciation is not known for certain, the form \u201cJehovah\u201d has been used for centuries in English. What really matters is not pronouncing it exactly as it was in ancient times, but knowing it and giving it the place it deserves.<\/p>\n\n But knowing someone\u2019s name does not mean that we know that person well. We also need to know what he is like. The Bible explains that Jehovah is the true God and the Creator of all things. He is not the God of just one people or one particular culture. He is the God of the whole earth.<\/p>\n\n Jehovah also wants us to know his personality. One of his most outstanding qualities is mentioned at 1 John 4:8, where we read: \u201cGod is love.\u201d<\/strong> This does not simply mean that Jehovah shows love from time to time. Love is part of everything he does. His counsel, his standards, and his promises reflect the affection he has for people.<\/p>\n\n It is also important to distinguish between Jehovah and Jesus. Jesus never claimed to be Jehovah. In fact, he worshipped his Father and referred to him as \u201cmy God.\u201d Jesus came to the earth to teach us the truth about his Father and help us draw close to Him.<\/p>\n\n So Jehovah is not an unknown force or a distant God. He is the Creator, he has a personal name, and he cares about us. Getting to know him involves learning how he thinks, observing his love, and applying his counsel.
