The Biblical text is Ephesians 4:8, which says:

“He gave men as gifts”

The daily text for today is as follows: 

No human being has been as generous as Jesus. For example, when he was on Earth, he used his power to perform miracles to help many people (Luke 9:12-17). And he gave us the greatest gift of all by giving his life for us (John 15:13). Since he was resurrected, he has continued to be very generous. As promised, he has asked Jehovah to use his holy spirit to teach and comfort us.​—John 14:16, 17, note; 16:13. Additionally, through congregation meetings, Jesus enables us to make disciples throughout the earth (Matt. 28:18-20). The apostle Paul wrote that when Jesus ascended to heaven, “he gave men as gifts” (Eph. 4:7, 8). He explained that Jesus gave them to us to help the congregation in various ways (Eph. 1:22, 23; 4:11-13). Of course, these men are imperfect and make mistakes (James 3:2). But they are a valuable gift that our Lord Jesus Christ uses to help us.

NO human being has been as generous as Jesus. For example, when he was on Earth, he used his power to perform miracles and thus help many people (Luke 9:12-17). And he gave us the greatest gift of all by giving his life for us (John 15:13). Since he was resurrected, he has continued being very generous. Just as he promised, he asked Jehovah to use his holy spirit to teach us and comfort us (John 14:16, 17, note; 16:13). In addition, through congregation meetings, Jesus enables us to make disciples throughout the Earth (Matt. 28:18-20).

But those are not the only gifts Jesus has given us. The apostle Paul wrote that, when Jesus ascended to heaven, he “gave men as gifts” (read Ephesians 4:7, 8). He explained that Jesus gave them to us to help the congregation in various ways (Eph. 1:22, 23; 4:11-13). Today, some of these “gifts” are ministerial servants, congregation elders, and circuit overseers. Of course, these men are imperfect and make mistakes (James 3:2). But they are a valuable gift that our Lord Jesus Christ uses to help us.

Now we move on to our personal analysis for today’s daily text: 

The main idea is that Jesus is extraordinarily generous. When he was on Earth, he used his power to help people: he healed, fed, and relieved suffering, as in the miracle of feeding the multitude (Luke 9:12-17). And then he gave the greatest gift of all: he gave his life for us (John 15:13).

But the text emphasizes something important: that generosity did not end with his death. Since he was resurrected, Jesus continues actively helping us. As he promised, he asked Jehovah to use the holy spirit to teach us and comfort us (John 14:16, 17; 16:13). And also, through congregation meetings, Jesus enables us to make disciples throughout the Earth (Matthew 28:18-20).

In this framework, Paul explains that when he ascended to heaven, Jesus “gave men as gifts.” That is, Jesus uses certain brothers with responsibilities to serve and strengthen the congregation, helping it to mature and be united (Ephesians 4:11-13; Ephesians 1:22, 23). The text acknowledges that they are imperfect and make mistakes (James 3:2), but even so, they are a valuable gift: Jehovah and Jesus use them to care for us, train us, and support the work.

How can we apply today’s daily text?

First: when you receive counsel, a visit, or an assignment from the elders, try to see it with this approach: “Jesus is taking care of me.” Even if the messenger is imperfect, the arrangement comes from Christ. This way of thinking helps you be humble and make the most of it.

Second: cooperate so that these “gifts” can fulfill their purpose. How? With a good attitude: following instructions, being punctual, participating in meetings, and making their work easier. Cooperation lightens burdens and strengthens unity.

Third (very practical): show appreciation in a simple way. This week thank an elder or ministerial servant for something specific: a visit, an assignment, a word of encouragement. A brief message can give them strength to continue serving.

Fourth: imitate Jesus in generosity. He gives; we also give. Find a way to be “a gift” to others: help a newcomer, encourage someone who is discouraged, accompany in preaching, or be available to support. That makes the congregation stronger.”
