Lesson 90: Jesus dies in Golgotha

Why did Pilate leave Jesus killed?

Commentary 1:
Pilate knew that Jesus was not guilty. In fact, he himself said several times that he could not find any crime in him. But he let himself be pressured by the crowd and religious leaders. This teaches us that knowing what is right is not enough; you also have to have the courage to do so.

Commentary 2:
Pilate let them kill Jesus because he wanted to please people rather than defend justice. Although he had the authority to release him, he gave in to the screams of those calling for his death. His example warns us of the danger of acting for fear of the opinion of others.

Commentary 3:
Pilate tried to take responsibility, but in the end allowed a terrible injustice. He knew Jesus was innocent, but he did not want to face the enemies of Jesus. This shows that neutrality in the face of injustice can also make us responsible.

Commentary 4:
Pilate’s decision showed moral weakness. He had proof that Jesus did not deserve to die, but preferred to avoid problems. This helps us to value more the example of Jesus, who always did the right thing even if that cost him suffering.

Commentary 5:
Pilate let them kill Jesus because he put his position and his tranquillity above justice. Instead of acting righteously, he gave in to the pressure. This teaches us that we must obey Jehovah even when others press us to do the opposite.

Jesus cared more about others than he did, how did he prove it?

Commentary 1:
Jesus demonstrated this when, even suffering on the tree, he asked Jehovah to forgive those involved in his execution. Instead of focusing only on their pain, he thought of their ignorance. That shows stunning mercy and love.

Commentary 2:
He also proved it by caring for his mother, Maria. Although she was going through extreme suffering, she asked John to take care of her. This teaches us that true love does not disappear in difficult times; on the contrary, it becomes more evident.

Commentary 3:
Jesus thought of the criminal who showed faith. He gave him precious hope by promising that he would be in Paradise. Although Jesus was dying, he still comforted and strengthened others. That shows that his love was constant and completely sincere.

Commentary 4:
During his last hours, Jesus did not respond with hatred or desire for revenge. He prayed for others, gave hope and cared for his mother. Their attitude teaches us that Christian love is demonstrated especially when we suffer or when others treat us badly.

Commentary 5:
Jesus showed that he cared more about others by remaining faithful to the end. Thanks to his death, we can all hope for forgiveness and eternal life. He did not think about saving himself, but in fulfilling the will of Jehovah to benefit mankind.

Additional comments on the lesson 90: What do we learn in this lesson about Jehovah?

Commentary 1:
We learn that Jehovah allowed his Son to suffer not because he was insensitive, but because he wanted to fulfill his purpose of saving mankind. That helps us to see how big your love is. Jehovah was willing to give the most valuable thing to rescue us.

Commentary 2:
This lesson teaches us that Jehovah always keeps his promises. The death of Jesus was not a defeat, but part of the divine purpose. As 2 Corinthians 1:20 says, God’s promises become reality through Christ. That strengthens our trust in Jehovah.

What practical lessons do we learn to apply today in our lives?

Commentary 1:
We learn not to get carried away by the pressure of the majority. Pilate knew the right thing, but he gave in. We too can face pressure at work, at school or in the family. This lesson encourages us to stand firm and please Jehovah before men.

Commentary 2:
Jesus teaches us to think of others even when we are suffering. Sometimes, when we have problems, we can lock ourselves in. But the example of Jesus encourages us to continue to show love, interest and compassion for those around us.

Commentary 3:
We also learn to forgive. Jesus asked Jehovah to forgive those who did not understand what they did. That doesn’t mean approving the bad, but avoiding resentment. Forgiveness helps us to have peace and to imitate the mercy of Jehovah.

Commentary 4:
The attitude of Jesus teaches us to maintain dignity when they treat us badly. He did not respond with insults or threats. We can imitate him by speaking calmly, keeping respect and trusting that Jehovah sees our fidelity.

Commentary 5:
This lesson helps us to value the rescue more. Jesus suffered and died so that we might have hope. Therefore, in our daily lives we can show gratitude by obeying Jehovah, preaching enthusiastically and striving to live in a way that honors Christ.

Lesson 91: The Resurrection of Jesus

What happened when the women went to Jesus’ grave?

Commentary 1:
When the women went to the grave, they found that the stone had been removed and that the tomb was open. Then an angel told them not to be afraid, for Jesus had risen. That turned his sadness into a news full of hope.

Commentary 2:
The women hoped to find the body of Jesus, but Jehovah had already acted. The tomb was empty, and an angel confirmed to them that Jesus was alive. This shows that Jehovah can completely change a situation that seems lost.

Commentary 3:
It strikes me that women went early to the grave, showing love and loyalty to Jesus. Jehovah rewarded that loyalty by allowing them to receive wonderful news: Jesus had risen. This teaches us that Jehovah values those who seek to serve him with sincere affection.

Commentary 4:
The angel gave them a mission: to tell the disciples that Jesus had risen. That shows that Jehovah used those faithful women to convey a very important message. It reminds us that we can all be useful to Jehovah if we are loyal and obedient.

Commentary 5:
What the women found confirmed that the enemies of Jesus could not prevent the purpose of Jehovah. Although they sealed the grave and set guards, Jesus rose. This strengthens our faith that nothing can stop what Jehovah decides to do.

What happened on the way to Emmaus?

Commentary 1:
Two disciples were walking to sad and confused Emmaus. Then Jesus came to them, though at first they did not recognize him. He explained to them with the Scriptures that the Christ had to suffer and be raised. That helped them regain faith.

Commentary 2:
On the way to Emmaus, Jesus not only told them who he was; first he helped them reason with the Scriptures. This teaches us that the Bible has the power to clarify doubts, strengthen faith and help us to see the issues from the point of view of Jehovah.

Commentary 3:
The disciples were discouraged because they did not understand everything that had happened. Jesus listened to them and then patiently explained the prophecies to them. This teaches us that Jehovah and Jesus do not reject those who have sincere doubts, but help them strengthen their faith.

Commentary 4:
When Jesus prayed for bread, the disciples realized who he was. That moment must have filled their heart with joy. Then they ran to Jerusalem to tell. When one regains faith and hope, he feels the desire to share it with others.

Commentary 5:
Emmaus’ account reminds us that sometimes we can be so sad that we don’t see clearly how Jehovah is helping us. But Jesus approached those disciples and strengthened them. That encourages us to continue listening to the Word of God when we are discouraged.

A practical lesson is not to lose hope when things seem difficult. The disciples thought it was over, but Jesus was alive. We too can trust that Jehovah can give a way out or comfort even in very dark moments.

Commentary 2:
We learn the importance of studying and meditating in the Scriptures. Jesus strengthened the disciples using the Word of God. When we have doubts, sadness or fear, the Bible can help us regain calm and see things with more faith.

Commentary 3:
We also learn to share the good news enthusiastically. Mary and the disciples of Emmaus did not keep what they had seen; they went to tell it. We too can speak to others of the hope that Jehovah gives us through Jesus.

Commentary 4:
This lesson teaches us to value the resurrection. It is not only a beautiful teaching, but a guarantee based on what Jehovah has already done to Jesus. That hope can give us the strength to endure the loss of loved ones and continue to serve with faith.

Commentary 5:
We learn that Jesus is interested in his disciples when they are discouraged. He approached Emmaus’s, listened to them and helped them. We can imitate him listening patiently to those who are weak and using the Bible to cheer them up fondly.
