JW Daily Text for Thursday, March 5, 2026

The Biblical text is 1 John 3:8, which reads:

The Son of God was manifested for this purpose: to undo the works of the Devil

The daily text for today is as follows: 

How could imperfect human beings approach Jehovah? He was gradually clearing it over the centuries. After the rebellion of Adam and Eve, the first human being to have faith in Jehovah was their second son, Abel. He loved Jehovah and wanted to please him and approach him. And that’s why he decided to make a sacrifice. As a shepherd, he took several firstborns of his flock, and offered them to Jehovah. And what did God do? He approved Abel and his offering. Later, he also approved similar sacrifices made to him by people who loved him and trusted him, like Noah. This showed that human beings, despite being imperfect, could please him and approach him.

And it is based on the Watchtower of August 2024 with the theme: What Jehovah hath done to rescue human beings from sin and death.”

The first ray of hope was seen when Jehovah delivered his sentence against Satan. God spoke of a transcendence that would be very important because in time he would crush Satan and fix all the problems he caused in the garden of Eden. However, that offspring would have to suffer because Satan would hurt her causing her death. That would hurt Jehovah in the depths of his heart. But Jehovah decided that all that pain would be worthwhile because so millions of human beings would be saved from sin and death.

How could imperfect human beings approach Jehovah? He was gradually clearing it over the centuries. Now we move on to our personal analysis for today’s daily text: 

The main idea is that Jehovah never left mankind hopeless. After the rebellion of Adam and Eve, it seemed that sin and distance with God had ruined everything. But Jehovah gradually clarified how imperfect human beings could approach him. And there the role of Jesus fits very well: he came to undo the works of the Devil, that is, to repair the damage that Satan caused and to open the way again to Jehovah.

The text first sets the example of Abel. He was the first human being who is said to have faith in Jehovah. Abel loved God, he wanted to please him and wanted to approach him. That is why he offered him a sacrifice of the best he had: several firstborns of his flock. And Jehovah approved of Abel and his offering. Later something similar happened to Noah, whose sacrifices were also accepted by Jehovah. What did those sacrifices show? That, although they were imperfect, human beings could please Jehovah and have his approval if they acted with faith, love and obedience.

Of course, those sacrifices did not definitively take away sin. Rather, they pointed to something greater: the perfect sacrifice of Christ. So the text helps us to see a very nice line: from Abel to Jesus, Jehovah was showing that he wanted humanity to be close to him again.

How can we apply today’s daily text?

First, come to Jehovah with the best you have, as Abel did. Today we do not offer animals, but we can give Jehovah the best of our time, attention and heart. Ask yourself: Am I giving Jehovah the best of me or just what I have left over? Sometimes that better can be a more sincere prayer, a biblical reading made calmly or a real effort to obey in something concrete.

Second: strengthen your faith by remembering that Jehovah does want you to come near to him. Do not think: I am imperfect, so Jehovah will be far from me. Abel and Noah prove otherwise. If you act with faith and a sincere heart, Jehovah sees it and values it.

Third (very practical): Today, take an action that reflects you approaching Jehovah consciously: a prayer where you open your heart, a reading of Genesis 4 or John 3:16, or a concrete decision to leave something that takes you away from it. Jesus came precisely to open that way for you.
