Apply Yourself to the Field Ministry — Week of March 23-29, 2026

We started with the first assignment.

Start conversations in informal preaching. Invite an inactive family member to the special speech and the Commemoration, with a duration of 3 minutes. 

Publisher: 

Good afternoon, Marta. How are you? We haven’t seen each other for a while, and with the dates they are, you know I always remember you, and I know you haven’t had a great time last year. 

Person: 

Good afternoon, Elena. I’m better, you know, there are days that get along better and others than others that don’t. But in general, I’m throwing away… the cure time. 

Publisher: 

I know that. And thou knowest also, that Jehovah can be thy rock and thy refuge, and that faith in God, trust in Him and time, thou shalt overcome this problem altogether. The truth, cousin, is that we miss you very much in meetings… and how special way to resume and strengthen our relationship with God than to celebrate together the great sacrifice that his Son made for all of us… what do you say to me? You’re in the mood to come this year? 

Person: 

I don’t know a cousin. I feel like it, but on the other hand… I’ve beennna hardly a meeting for a few months now… what will they think of me?

Publisher: 

Same as me. That we miss you a lot, and we’ll be very happy to see you. But regardless of this, you know that Jehovah will rejoice even more… indeed, his hand of love and justice is here now, in this conversation, and he is encouraging you to come with me to the Commemoration and special speech.  

Person: 

Okay, I’ll go to the Commemoration with you, I’m very happy, and what less after everything Jehovah and Jesus has done and does for us… but… that speech thing… I’m not so sure anymore… 

Publisher: 

Of course you’re sure. I’ll pick you up. This year, the theme of special speech is: Who will save the planet? You know perfectly well what the Bible says, so you don’t have to add more words. But let’s read together, to remember, the text of Revelation 7:9 and 10. Read it to you Elena. 

Person: 

After this I saw a large crowd that no man could count. They were of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, and stood before the throne, and before the Lamb. They were dressed in long white robes and carried palm leaves in their hands. And they were crying with a loud voice, We owe salvation to our God, who sits on the throne, and the Lamb.

As a family of yours, like your cousin, of the favorites… I want to see you in this big crowd with me… so I’ll send you a message with the time I’ll pick you up, for the special speech and for the Commemoration…

Take revisits, also in informal preaching, the topic is that the person is thinking about attending the Commemoration. Explain what this meeting will look like.  

Framework of circumstances:

Informal conversation at the break of work. The publisher has spoken to her partner about God, the Bible and some basic beliefs. This time, the partner comments that she is thinking of attending the Memorial, but since she has never gone, she wants to know what it will be like.

Published:

Hey, the other day I was really happy when you told me that this year you’re considering going to the Commemoration.

Person:

Yes, the truth is, yes. I’m curious, and besides everything you’ve explained to me other times about Jesus and what you think… I’d like to see him for myself. But I also tell you that it intimidates me a little bit, because I don’t know what that meeting is like. 

Published:

It’s normal. When you’ve never gone, you ask yourself a lot of questions. But you really can be calm. It is a very simple meeting, very respectful and thought precisely to remember the death of Jesus, as he commanded.

Person:

And can anyone go? Because of course, I am not a Jehovah’s Witness.

Published:

Yes, of course. Anybody can go. In fact, it’s open to anyone who wants to attend, even with their family. You don’t have to witness or have gone to other meetings before, millions of people are attending around the world.

Person:

That reassures me. And how long does it last longer or less?

Published:

About an hour. It’s not a long meeting. And you don’t have to do anything or participate in any special way, entry is free. You can sit down, listen calmly and see what it’s like.

Person:

Okay. And how does it start or what’s done there?

Published:

At first a song is sung and a prayer is done. Then there is a biblical lecture that explains why the death of Jesus is so important and how it benefits us what God and Christ have done for us. They pass some emblems, a bread and a wine, representing the body and blood of Christ. And in the end another song is sung and another prayer is done. It’s a nice, clear and easy program to follow, even if it’s the first time you’re going.

Person:

Well, it sounds a lot simpler than I imagined. I thought maybe it was something more closed or more serious, and I was afraid of feeling out of place.

Published:

No, not at all. It’s a serious occasion because something very important is remembered, but it’s not made for anyone to feel uncomfortable. On the contrary. The idea is that anyone can understand why Jesus’ sacrifice has so much value to us.

Person:

One more thing, how should I go dressed?

Published:

There’s no mandatory dress or anything like that. But we do try to go in a respectful way for the occasion. Look, you come with me, we sit down together and I’m telling you what’s going on. But I’m telling you, you’re gonna feel very well integrated. You don’t have to learn anything or answer anything. Just listen and enjoy God’s blessings.

Person:

So it’s more to better understand the value of Jesus’ death, isn’t it?

Published:

Exactly. And since you and I have already talked about God, the ransom and why Jesus died, I think this meeting will like you very much, because it unites all that in a very clear and very beautiful way. And Luke 22:19, who I have it here and I will read it to you, says, “Let them do this in memory of me.” You will hear something that has a lot to do with you: how it benefits you personally what Jesus did. That’s one of the central ideas of the Commemoration.

Person:

Well, you’re convincing me.

Published:

I’m glad. And I tell you one thing: since it’s your first time, even better if we go together. That’s how you get quieter, you sit with me and then, if you want, we’ll talk about what you liked the most.

Person:

Yeah, I’d feel much more comfortable.

Published:

Person:

At the end of the Commemoration, a woman who had previously talked to you about God and the Bible leaves the living room with you. It’s the first time you’ve attended, he really liked the show, but he kept thinking about several things and asks them as you walk to the exit.

Person:

I really… I liked it a lot more than I expected. It has been a very respectful and very clear meeting. But some questions have come up with me.

Published:

Sure, tell me. I’m glad you want to comment on them.

Person:

The first is this: it was noticed that it was a very important occasion, but it struck me that they said that this is done to remember the death of Jesus. Is that the main idea?

Published:

Yes, exactly. The central idea is to remember with gratitude the sacrifice of Jesus. In fact, he himself commanded his disciples to do this in memory of him, we can read it in Luke or in the first letter to the Corinthians. That is why for us it is not only such a beautiful and special celebration, besides that Jesus expressly asked his disciples.

Person:

Yeah, I liked that. But another thing I didn’t fully understand: why do you celebrate it only once a year? I thought something so important would be done more times.

Published:

We do it once a year because Jesus instituted this celebration on the very day of the Jewish Passover, and the Passover was celebrated once a year. In addition, the early Christians followed that model.

Person:

Okay, I get it better. I mean, it’s not that you’re taking importance, but the other way around: precisely out of respect for biblical teaching, you do so.

Published:

That’s right. It is not about doing it more times to give it more courage, but of doing it as Jesus established it.

Person:

I also noticed something else. They passed the bread and wine, but I didn’t see anyone to participate in or take those emblems. That surprised me a lot. Why is that happening? Is it testimonial alone, why do they have it then?

Published:

It’s one of the most common questions. The vast majority of us, we attended like a wedding, the group of the big crowd as said in the speech, we attended this wedding with great respect and gratitude, so these emblems are passed, but we do not participate in them.

Person:

So, do those who do participate mean that they have more faith in God, something like that?

Published:

No, not at all. We all greatly value the sacrifice of Christ and his Father. It’s a gift for all of us. The difference is, for example, that I have the hope of living on Earth turned into a paradise, once the Kingdom of God arrives, with Jesus as King. And Jesus will need help to rule, and he will have it of the 144,000. Who are people, also faithful to God, who have the hope of living in heaven. 

Person:

I understand the part of the people we hope to live on Earth turned into a paradise. I find it harder to understand the subject of 144,000. 

Published:

And it’s completely normal if you don’t study the bible. Let us say that certain people have been called to reign with Christ in heaven, and others hope to live here on earth forever. But we all value the ransom.

Person:

Okay, I’ll get it. And another question: bread and wine… do you think they literally become the body and blood of Jesus?

Published:

No. They’re symbols. They don’t literally transform. Jesus often taught using symbolic expressions. Also, that night with his disciples, his blood had not yet been shed, so it was clear that he was speaking with a symbolic meaning.

Person:

Of course… seen like this, it’s pretty logical.

Published:

Yes, yes. The bread represents his perfect body and the wine his blood shed in favor of us.

Person:

Well, I tell you one thing: I looked at all those details, but I didn’t quite understand them. It makes more sense now. And I liked that everything was so simple, so focused on the Bible.

Published:

I’m so glad you saw it that way. That is precisely the idea: to follow closely what the Scriptures teach about this celebration.

Person:

The truth is, I’ve kept thinking a lot about the value of Jesus’ sacrifice. Sometimes you know the idea above, but today I felt it more real.

Published:

And that’s very nice. For the Commemoration seeks precisely that: that we think of what Jesus did for us and how much Jehovah loves us because he has allowed that sacrifice.

Person:

I’m so glad I came. And also if I had asked you, because if I hadn’t left with several doubts.
