Why is it important to receive the inactive who attend the Commemoration fondly?

Commentary 1:
I am very struck by the fact that at the beginning of the video the sister appears alone, thoughtful and even a little sad, looking at the invitation. That shows that for an inactive it is not always easy to take the step of going back. That’s why it’s so important to receive them fondly: because maybe on the outside it may seem like he just came, but inside it may have cost him a lot.

Commentary 2:
The video conveys very well that an inactive person can feel uncomfortable, insecure or out of place. That’s why a warm welcome can make all the difference. Sometimes a sincere greeting, a smile or making room for him to sit down already makes him feel: here they still love me, here I still have a place.

Commentary 3:
I find it nice that the video contrasts two environments: first the sister is seen in a cold, off and very lonely environment, and then everything changes when she arrives and receives her with affection. That teaches that the love of the congregation can be just what someone needs to feel peace and closeness to Jehovah.

The video does not see her receiving reproaches or uncomfortable questions, but with genuine affection. That’s important because an inactive can already come carrying guilt or fear. What you need most at that time is not pressure, but feeling the love of Jehovah reflected in us.

That fits the subject of the video: Jesus came to look for and save what was lost. So to affectionately receive the inactive is to imitate Jesus directly.

Another lesson in the video is that we don’t know everything that person has been through. We only see her sitting alone, thoughtful, like fighting inside. That teaches us not to judge. Maybe he’s been through wounds, discouragement or feelings of guilt. That’s why the most important thing is that, when you arrive, you find understanding, human warmth and a sincere welcome.
