We Can Win the Victory
1. Against whom are we fighting as Jehovah’s servants? (Ephesians 6:11, 12)
Ephesians 6:11-12 — Put on the complete suit of armor from God so that you may be able to stand firm against the crafty acts of the Devil; because we have a struggle, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places.
Answer 1: Our fight is not against flesh-and-blood people but against Satan and the demons. That is why we need to put on the complete suit of armor that God provides and always rely on Jehovah’s help.
Answer 2: As Jehovah’s servants, we do not participate in the wars of this world. Our warfare is spiritual, and we must know the tactics that Satan uses to attack us and our brothers.
Answer 3: Satan and the demons are powerful, but we are not alone. We can stand up to them if we rely on Jehovah and remain alert to their traps.
2. What will we consider in this article?
Answer 1: We will consider two more of Satan’s tactics. One is trying to destroy the unity of the congregation; the other is using persecution to discourage us and make us stop preaching.
Answer 2: Satan wants us to lose sight of what is most important. He may try to divide or frighten us, but recognizing his objectives helps us avoid falling into his traps.
Answer 3: The article prepares us to protect unity and remain focused on preaching about God’s Kingdom, even when we face opposition or injustices.
3. What is Satan’s strategy for trying to divide us?
Answer 1: Satan wants us to fight one another instead of fighting him. He hopes that cold, cruel, and distrustful attitudes from the world will rub off on us.
Answer 2: His strategy is to promote criticism, suspicion, and even hatred among brothers. In this way, he would try to weaken the unity that Jehovah wants for his people.
Answer 3: When a difference arises, let us remember who the real enemy is. That perspective will help us avoid viewing our brothers as adversaries.
4. Why did King Saul want to kill David? (See also the picture.)
Answer 1: Saul became filled with envy and hatred when he saw that the people praised David more than him. That bad attitude led him to try to kill David many times.
Answer 2: Satan would have been delighted if Saul had killed David, because Jehovah had already chosen David to be Israel’s next king. He wanted to prevent Jehovah’s purpose from being fulfilled.
Answer 3: The picture contrasts Saul with Jonathan. Saul allowed jealousy to dominate him, but Jonathan had faith in Jehovah and happily supported David.
5. Why does Satan want us to become envious of one another? (James 3:14-16)
James 3:14-16 — But if you have bitter jealousy and contentiousness in your hearts, do not be bragging and lying against the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above; it is earthly, animalistic, demonic. For wherever there are jealousy and contentiousness, there will also be disorder and every vile thing.
Answer 1: Satan knows that jealousy and a contentious spirit produce disorder and every vile thing. That is why he wants to sow envy; it would then be harder for us to treat one another with love.
Answer 2: Jehovah blesses his servants when they are united. Satan tries to break that unity by making us compare what we have or do with what other brothers have or do.
Answer 3: Envy can affect our worship. Instead of feeding comparisons, we can rejoice over the blessings and abilities of our brothers.
6. What does Jonathan’s example teach you? (See also the picture.)
Answer 1: Jonathan did not imitate his father’s envy. He remained loyal to David and trusted that Jehovah would fulfill His word. His example teaches us to humbly support our brothers.
Answer 2: Although David would become king, Jonathan did not view him as a rival. He offered him his support, showing that love and loyalty leave little room for jealousy.
Answer 3: We can imitate Jonathan by rejoicing when a brother receives a responsibility or a blessing. Thus we strengthen unity instead of competing.
7. What can we do to give the Devil no opportunity? (Ephesians 4:25-27)
Ephesians 4:25-27 — Therefore, now that you have put away deceit, each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, because we are members belonging to one another. Be wrathful, but do not sin; do not let the sun set while you are still angry; do not give the Devil an opportunity.
Answer 1: We give the Devil no opportunity when we quickly resolve disagreements and do not let anger remain in our heart. Speaking honestly can protect peace.
Answer 2: Differences in opinions, personalities, races, and cultures do not have to divide us. We are all valuable members of the same body and fight against the same enemies.
Answer 3: Instead of thinking that differences separate us, let us strive to love our brothers even more. They are not standing in front of us but at our side.
8. What should we do if a brother or sister says or does something that hurts us?
John 17:20-21 — “I make request, not concerning these only, but also concerning those putting faith in me through their word, so that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, so that the world may believe that you sent me.
Answer 1: We should be patient and willing to forgive. Jesus asked that his disciples be united, so protecting unity is one way to respond to his desire.
Answer 2: Let us remember that we also make mistakes. Since we spend much time together, friction may occur; we should not allow an injury to distance us from a brother.
Answer 3: When we feel hurt, we can ask ourselves what will help preserve peace. Forgiving and showing patience contribute to the unity that Jehovah and Jesus want.
9. What other tactic does Satan use against us?
Answer 1: Another tactic of Satan is persecution. He wants to discourage, frighten, or distract us so that we stop carrying out the work of preaching about God’s Kingdom.
Answer 2: When we suffer opposition, we might become obsessed with seeing justice done or clearing our name. Satan would use that to divert our attention from what is most important.
Answer 3: Knowing that true Christians would suffer persecution helps us not to be surprised. We can remain focused on the service that Jehovah has entrusted to us.
10. What did Isaac do when he suffered an injustice?
Answer 1: When the Philistines quarreled with him over the wells, Isaac decided to move elsewhere and dig new wells. He sought peace instead of allowing the conflict to worsen.
Answer 2: Isaac did not become discouraged or respond aggressively to the injustice. He acted calmly and patiently, and Jehovah blessed his decision.
Answer 3: His example teaches us that we do not always have to insist on defending our rights. At times, yielding in order to preserve peace is the wisest decision.
11. How did Jesus react when he suffered injustices?
Answer 1: Jesus suffered many injustices, but he did not allow opposition to slow down his service to Jehovah. He remained focused on the work he had been assigned.
Answer 2: Jesus never sought revenge. When Peter injured a slave of the high priest, Jesus did not approve of that reaction and healed the wound.
Answer 3: We can imitate Jesus by not allowing an injustice to control our thoughts or actions. Preaching and serving Jehovah must continue to be our priority.
12. According to Matthew 5:43, 44, how should we treat those who persecute us or oppose our work?
Matthew 5:43-44 — “You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you,
Answer 1: Jesus commanded us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute his disciples. Therefore, we do not repay evil for evil, even when someone opposes our work.
Answer 2: We should treat kindly, patiently, and respectfully even those who mistreat us. This reaction shows that we follow Jesus’ clear command.
Answer 3: If relatives or others turn against us, we can avoid responding in the same way. Our conduct may help us keep preaching in focus.
13. Why should we respect rulers even if they oppose our work? (See also the picture.)
John 15:19 — If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.
Answer 1: We respect rulers because God’s Word commands us to do so. Even if there are laws that make life difficult for us, we do not allow that to cause us to lose our neutrality.
Answer 2: We should not conclude that Satan is behind every unjust decision made by governments. What he wants is for us to react negatively and criticize political leaders.
Answer 3: The picture reminds us that a Christian does not join protests. We remain neutral and respectful, even when others pressure us to participate.
14. What should we keep in mind when people turn against the truth?
Answer 1: We should remember that some people who once opposed the truth are now our brothers. This helps us not to lose hope when someone speaks badly about us.
Answer 2: We can ask Jehovah to allow the authorities to let us worship him peacefully and to help us know how to change a negative opinion about Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Answer 3: Patience is needed, especially with relatives, workmates, or schoolmates. We do not know how much a person may change over time.
15. Why is it not worth trying to correct every injustice we see or suffer in this world?
1 John 3:8 — The one who practices sin originates with the Devil, because the Devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was made manifest, to break up the works of the Devil.
Answer 1: We cannot correct every injustice in this world, but Jesus will break up the works of the Devil. Jehovah knows exactly what we are enduring, and his Kingdom will repair all the damage.
Answer 2: Spending our energies trying to correct every injustice could distract us. While we wait for the Kingdom, we can be patient and show love for our neighbor.
Answer 3: The best way to use our time and strength is to help as many people as possible to become Jehovah’s friends. That work has lasting results.
16. What will help us win our fight against Satan and the demons? (See also the pictures.)
1 John 5:4-5 — because everyone who has been born from God conquers the world. And this is the conquest that has conquered the world, our faith. Who can conquer the world? Is it not the one who has faith that Jesus is the Son of God?
Answer 1: The key to winning is faith. Strengthening our faith in Jehovah and Jesus gives us the assurance that we can win the fight against Satan and the demons.
Answer 2: Faith will motivate us to continue loving our brothers and remaining united with them. Love and unity are an important defense against Satan’s tactics.
Answer 3: The pictures show that brothers of different ages and backgrounds can work together lovingly. Fostering such an atmosphere of unity helps us win the victory.
17. What are we determined to do?
Answer 1: We are determined not to fall into Satan’s traps. Although he may try to divide or discourage us, we will stay close to Jehovah and Jesus.
Answer 2: We want to remember that our brothers fight at our side, not against us. Therefore, we will do all we can to strengthen the unity of the congregation.
Answer 3: We are also determined to show kindness to those who treat us unjustly and to keep preaching with the assurance that we can win the victory.
In what ways does Satan try to destroy our unity?

What does Satan do to try to make us stop preaching?
Matthew 5:43-44 — “You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you,
Answer 1: Satan uses persecution and opposition to discourage us. Jesus commanded us to love our enemies, so we do not repay evil for evil or stop preaching.
Answer 2: He may cause us to focus on the injustice, defending our name, or seeking punishment for others. In this way he would try to turn us away from the work of preaching about God’s Kingdom.
Answer 3: He also hopes that we will lose our neutrality and react negatively to government decisions. Remaining respectful and neutral protects us from that trap.
What convinces you that you can win your fight against Satan and the demons?
Answer 1: I am convinced that Jehovah and Jesus have promised to help us if we remain close to them. We do not fight with our own strength.
Answer 2: I am convinced that faith in Jehovah and Jesus helps us win. That faith moves us to remain united with our brothers.
Answer 3: I am convinced that we know Satan’s tactics and can stand up to them. If we continue showing love and preaching, we can win the victory.
