We Give Glory to God’s Name
What responsibility do we have as God’s people?
Comment 1: We have the responsibility to bear witness about Jehovah and tell the truth about him. Carrying his name is not just an honor; it also means helping others to know him and clarifying false teachings that misrepresent him.
Comment 2: I am struck by the fact that Jehovah gathered people from such different backgrounds to be a people for his name. The video mentions Jews, proselytes, Samaritans, and Gentiles. What united them was not their culture but their relationship with Jehovah and a common mission. This reminds us that regardless of our background, we all have the responsibility to give him glory.
John 10:16 — “And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; those too I must bring in, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd.
Comment 3: The Workbook connects these words of Jesus with the honor that the other sheep have of glorifying Jehovah. So this responsibility does not belong only to anointed Christians. Those of us who are part of the other sheep also belong to God’s people and can personally contribute to making his name known and respected.
What is one false teaching that God’s people have shown is not found in the Bible?
Comment 1: One such teaching is the Trinity dogma. Jehovah’s people have shown that it has no Scriptural basis. Even though it has been taught for centuries, its age and acceptance do not make it a teaching of God’s Word.
Comment 2: The video mentions Jesus’ prayers as a simple way to examine this teaching. Jesus addressed his Father; he was not pretending to have a conversation or speaking to himself. This detail helps us see why we should start with what the Bible says about Jesus and his Father, rather than trying to fit those accounts into a religious doctrine.
Comment 3: Another reason presented in the video has to do with Jesus’ death. The Father has always been immortal, whereas Jesus really died. The explanation in The Watch Tower of 1915 used this contrast to show the problems with identifying Jesus with the same God whom he served. Bible truth does not require us to deny that Jesus gave his life.
Why is the Trinity dogma like a forgery of a work of art?
Comment 1: Because in both cases something produced later was presented as though it were original. The painting contained an ingredient that did not exist in Vermeer’s time. Similarly, the words added to support the Trinity did not appear in the oldest Greek manuscripts.
Comment 2: The forger used an old canvas, but that did not make his painting authentic. This part of the comparison is very clear: putting a new work on an old support does not change who painted it. In the same way, inserting words into copies of the Bible does not make them part of the inspired text. We need to check whether they really belonged to the original, not merely where they appear.
Comment 3: I am struck by the fact that a highly respected expert assured people that the painting was authentic. His prestige gave his opinion considerable weight, but it did not change reality. Something similar happens when a religious authority endorses a teaching. We can treat people respectfully and still recognize that no human opinion has more authority than the evidence of what the Bible really says.
Comment 4: The forgery was not discovered simply because someone disliked the painting. A chemical analysis was made, and concrete evidence appeared: an ingredient from a period later than the painter’s time. In the case of the Bible addition, the video points to textual evidence: its absence from the oldest Greek manuscripts. Thus, the comparison is based on verifying authenticity, not on personal preferences.
What has God’s people done to firmly reject the Trinity dogma?
Comment 1: It has rejected it publicly and explained why it contradicts the Bible. The video mentions that, as early as 1915, The Watch Tower presented clear arguments against that doctrine. It did not merely express disagreement; it helped people reason on what the Scriptures teach.
Comment 2: One thing it has done is invite people to think about Jesus’ prayers. The publication cited in the video showed how contradictory it would be to view them as a pretense, as though Jesus were pretending to address God. Thus, Jehovah’s people have defended the truth by using what Jesus actually did. No complicated explanation is needed to recognize that his prayers to his Father were sincere.
Comment 3: It has been clearly explained that Jesus really died, whereas his Father is immortal. The video shows how The Watch Tower used questions to expose the contradictions of that doctrine. I find that method useful: instead of asking someone to accept our opinion without question, we can help the person think about the Bible facts and see whether a teaching agrees with them.
How does Jehovah feel when he sees us working so hard to teach the truth about him and sanctify his name?
Comment 1: Jehovah deeply loves those who have reverential fear of him and value his name. The end of the video highlights this. Our efforts to teach the truth about him do not go unnoticed: Jehovah sees them and appreciates those who want to represent him faithfully.
Comment 2: I am moved that the passage from Malachi discussed in the video presents Jehovah as paying attention and listening to his servants. He is not a distant God, indifferent to what we say about him. When we speak appreciatively about Jehovah and help others learn the truth, he takes notice. Knowing this encourages us to continue, even when a conversation seems to have produced little result.
Comment 3: The video mentions a book of remembrance for those who fear Jehovah and think about his name. This picture conveys something very tender: Jehovah does not forget those who value him. Other people may not know how much we prepared to explain a Bible truth, but he knows our desire to honor him. This gives us a very personal reason to keep exerting ourselves.
